Logan MP Linus Power congratulated the graduates, who had worked on the Greening Jimboomba project at the Jimboomba Community Garden.
"Skilling Queenslanders for Work provides disadvantaged job seekers the opportunity to learn important skills in an effort to support them to transition into long-term employment," Mr Power said.
"This group of trainees have worked hard learning about the environment and conservation, as part of their Certificate I in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.
"They have worked on planting native species, improving sites and supported the operation of the Jimboomba Community Garden.
"In their course trainees are learning important skills while gaining experience and confidence. On top of this, their efforts during the recovery from the floods also provided great benefits to the community in its time of need, which we are extremely thankful for."
Jimboomba resident Gary Lomax was one of the graduates, and said the program had been a great experience and helped him return to the workforce following his retirement.
"The program has stimulated my mind and kept me mentally active," Mr Lomax said.
"It was also a privilege to be able to pass on some of my lessons learnt to the younger members of the traineeship."
Mr Lomax plans to volunteer at Beaucare Beaudesert, and has registered with Conservation Volunteers Australia.
The state representative praised Mr Lomax and said he embodied the spirit that contributes to the program's success.
"I've attended many Skilling Queenslanders for Work graduations and see the sense of comradery and teamwork that grows over the course of the traineeship every time," Mr Power said.
"I commend Gary on his passion for learning, and for sharing that passion with his fellow trainees."
Mr Power also thanked training providers Axiom College and Belong, who have supported over 1100 workers through 49 community-based projects since 2015.
The Queensland Government has committed $80 million per year to the Skilling Queenslanders for Work program.
