Division 9 Councillor Scott Bannan said project would solve a long-standing issue for those who make use of the complex's many sporting facilities.
"The road through here was always horrible," Councillor Bannan said.
"Every time it rained you'd just have potholes open up.
"With so many people coming to the netball, rugby and basketball clubs and the RSL it was just a bit embarrassing."
The driveway has now been widened to approximately six metres and new concrete kerbs have been installed. Some of the turns at junctions have also been made slightly shallower to improve vehicle access.
Internal footpaths linking the various sports clubs to allow pedestrian access from South Street are yet to come, and the driveway will also be sealed when the project is complete.
The project was financed through the Logan City Council's Local Infrastructure Program (LIP), which allocates an amount of funds to each division for works such as these.
Cr Bannan said he was grateful for the LIP funds, as it streamlined local projects that improved residents' quality of life.
"It's common sense really," he said.
"I like to think that's why people elected me.
"It's divisional money, it's what it's for. Because of that I was able to pull the trigger on the project and cut through red tape."
The councillor also said his project would not interfere with the existing South Street project, which had been delayed due to the weather and issues with underground infrastructure, which was not the council's responsibility.
"Now's the perfect time to do this," Cr Bannan said.
"If we waited until they finished South Street it would be more expensive and cause even more disruption.
"Now that the weather's gone they're making good progress on South Street."
