His performance was rewarded on Monday, with the round two Rising Star nomination.
Parish was energetic and tenacious against the Demons, racking up 21 possessions and laying eight tackles in just his second match.
The No. 5 draft pick and Geelong Falcons graduate followed up his impressive round one debut, in which he won the most clearances for his team and laid the second most tackles.
Essendon coach John Worsfold praised Parish's endeavour after Saturday's game, and on Monday said he had helped lift the team.
"Darcy's first two games have been extremely pleasing," he said.
"He's been really strong in the contested area of his game. He shows a lot of composure under pressure and we are really excited at the club about the bright future ahead for such a talented young player."
Melbourne midfielder Clayton Oliver, drafted one slot ahead of Parish at No.4 last November, was the round one nominee.
Jacob Weitering, Tom Papley, Josh Schache, Callum Mills, Callum Ah Chee and Wayne Milera are among the other 2015 draftees to have made strong early impressions.
